NORTH CAROLINA, USA — A cold front moving into North Carolina early next week is expected to bring the first taste of winter to the mountains, with snow possible on the highest peaks as early as Monday, the WFMY Weather Team reports.
Forecasters say a few inches of snow could accumulate at the tallest elevations, with lesser amounts in valleys and mountain towns such as Boone and Blowing Rock. Lower elevations in the Piedmont are unlikely to see snow, though meteorologists will continue monitoring conditions.
Ski resorts across North Carolina are preparing amid the approaching cold.
Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain have announced that snow machines will be activated if snowfall occurs, while Appalachian Ski Resort plans to open Nov. 21, weather permitting.
