WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court issued an emergency order Friday, temporarily blocking full SNAP food aid payments from being sent out.

This comes one day after a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to fully fund food stamps through November and hours after the USDA said funds will soon be available to recipients.

The Supreme Court issued the order after the Trump administration requested emergency appeal to block SNAP food aid payments as the longest government shutdown in history continued Friday.

The high court order comes after an appellate court declined to suspend a Thursday court order requiring the administration to fully fund SNAP through November by Friday.
