More people have landed jobs in London and region over the last 12 months, but the unemployment rate nudged up last month as the population and workforce grew faster, new figures show.

Just-released Statistics Canada numbers show the London census metropolitan area posted a 6.5 per cent unemployment rate in October, compared to 6.2 per cent in September – but still below the 6.6 per cent from October 2024.

The good news is about 1,500 more people were working in the city and region in October than in September, but about 3,000 more people entered the job market looking for work, pushing the unemployment rate higher.
