QUINCY (WGEM) - The City of Quincy announced Friday that they are working with CodeRED, the provider for the city’s emergency notification system, to do an early test of the system during the citywide boil order.

The city said this step allowed staff to learn how notifications are delivered and received before the full rollout.

The CodeRED system is designed to deliver emergency information through phone calls, text messages, and emails—ensuring that residents receive accurate and timely updates during water advisories, severe weather, and other urgent situations. This service is provided at no cost to those who receive notifications.

City officials said the early test reached 26,000 contact that the city gathered through existing public records.
