An LLC affiliated with Nashville-based Highland Capital has agreed to purchase local cultural icon Plaza Mariachi for $13.45 million.

According to a document filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court earlier this week, HC Plaza LLC will purchase the troubled South Nashville property.

The property, located at 3955 Nolensville Pike and a center for Nashville’s Latino culture and commerce, has faced various challenges stemming, in part, from its previous owner’s legal troubles.

Mark Janbakhsh paid $1.9 million for property — once housing, in part, a Kroger — in 2013, spent about $18 million in upgrades and opened Plaza Mariachi in 2017.
