While Allen Pundt has always tried to keep a low profile, his work and support for veterans has always been well-known in the community.

Pundt is this year's Grand Marshal for Porterville Veterans' Day activities and he said the honor is made special by the fact he was selected by his peers. Pundt has been a member of American Legion Post 20 for 24 years and also currently services on the American Legion Post 20 Color Guard.

“It's humbling to be selected by the guys you work with not by anybody else,” Pundt said. “I've been fortunate to be selected by my peers.”

Pundt has been heavily involved with veterans matters in the community, including as a member of American Legion Post 20 and as the chairman of the Porterville Veterans Memorial Board, which oversees the Porterville Veterans Mem
