RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Nevada DMV says it is moving its four rural offices to being appointment only.

Offices in Elko, Fallon, Mesquite and Yerington will now operate via appointment only.

“We’ve seen great success with scheduled service in our metropolitan offices since implementing our new appointment system,” said DMV Director Tonya Laney. “We are slowly shifting each rural office to appointment-only to ensure customers can plan ahead, avoid long waits and receive the same consistent level of service provided at each office.”

Appointments will only be able to be scheduled one day in advance, which the DMV says is done to ensure offices are not going over capacity.

The DMV says customers need to be proactive and not wait until the last minute for a time slot.
