Winter weather is on the way, which means that it's time to slow down and plan ahead before hitting the roads.
Although the first snowfall on Monday is expected to be on the lighter side, drivers should still be prepared for the lake effect snow that could happen.
Drivers are reminded to slow down and start their drive times earlier to avoid accidents.
Jim Garrity, the director of public affairs for AAA East Central, said that preparing inside the car is just as important as preparing for the snowy roads.
"That could be different situation by situation, but generally, non-perishable food items, bottles of water are going to come in handy," Garrity said. "Blankets, cell phone chargers, a whole list of things that you would need to maybe keep yourself safe."
