TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Governor Ron DeSantis signed a death warrant for the state’s 18th execution this year.

According to the warrant, Mark Allen Geralds is set to be executed on December 9 at 6 p.m.

Geralds was convicted of the 1989 murder of Tressa Pettibone.

Pettibone, who was killed in Bay County, was found beaten and stabbed on the kitchen floor of her home.

“The capital felony... was a homicide and was committed in a cold, calculated and a premediated manner without any pretense of any moral or legal justification,” the trial judge wrote when sentencing Geralds to death.

A letter from Florida’s Attorney General explaining the crime said Pettibone’s eight-year-old son was the one who found her when he came home from school.
