LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Travelers are experiencing delays and cancellations at airports all across the country as as airlines on Friday began Friday complying with the Federal Aviation Administration’s order to reduce service nationwide in the midst of the government shutdown.
The FAA selected 40 airports nationwide for the slowdown, leaving many travelers worried about their plans.
Nationwide, there have been more than 4,100 delays and just under 1,000 cancellations involving flights within, into or out of the U.S.. as of 4:45 p.m., according to FlightAware.
In Michigan, there have been 84 delays and 35 cancellations involving such flights at Detroit Metro Airport.
