The Plymouth Fire Department reports that shortly before 2 p.m., one of three blades on a 300-foot-tall wind turbine spun off and went splat into a cranberry bog off Head of the Bay Road.

The blade is approximately 75 to 100 feet long.

Contractors were summoned to remove the remains of the turbine - which shut down upon losing a blade - and clean up the area. The state Department of Environmental Protection will also inspect the turbine to try to figure out what happened.
