Orders calling for the use of Class 8 trucks, commercial trucks or tractors that have a gross weight above 33,001 pounds, have declined in a freight market pressured by government policy uncertainty and tariffs, according to industry data released in October.

The latest Class 8 order report from ACT Research, a commercial vehicle and freight forecasting organization, showed that net orders in September totaled 20,666 units, which is the weakest September performance since 2019.

September showed a 44.15% decrease of Class 8 orders, compared to the same period in 2024, where orders totaled 37,000 units.
