As SNAP crisis deepens, food lines grow across New York City

With the federal shutdown stalling SNAP benefits for nearly 1.8 million New Yorkers, community groups are stepping up to fill the gap. At a free food distribution event in Ridgewood, Queens, volunteers with Phoenix Car and Limo gathered thousands of pounds of fresh produce, canned goods, and essentials for more than 1,000 residents.
