As Gananoque edges closer to its next municipal budget cycle, a familiar question is resurfacing: should local tax dollars be used to support area hospitals, or should those contributions remain a personal choice?

Coun. David Osmond says he continues to support hospital foundations personally, but remains hesitant to back municipal funding commitments that would increase the town’s tax burden.

In a statement this week, Osmond said he recently received thank-you letters from both the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation and the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation for his individual donation, and encouraged residents who are able to do the same.
