SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho — A male hunter died after becoming stranded in heavy snow while hunting near Clarkia, authorities said.
The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office received a call on the morning of November 6 about two overdue hunters who had contacted a friend the previous evening to report they were stuck in snow in the woods outside Clarkia.
A backcountry search team was immediately dispatched to the area. After a full day of unsuccessful phone pings and searching by deputies and family members, relatives located the hunters.
The hunters' pickup truck had become stuck in the snow. The male hunter attempted to use his ATV to find help, but the heavy snow and difficult terrain caused the ATV to become stuck as well.
Both hunters then attempted to walk out of the area on foot. During
