Eleven weeks into the longest strike at Toledo’s Libbey Glass plant since 1974, a small group of striking workers has sent a union-proposed offer to the company.

On Friday, Libbey Glass employees represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1297 voted to ratify a union-proposed agreement to end the work stoppage, according to the IAM Union.

The union represents about 84 Libbey Glass employees in Toledo. About 500 employees have been on strike since late August, with the remaining being members of the United Steelworkers.

The strike was in response to the company’s contract proposal and unfair labor practices, the union said.

The IAM members will remain on strike, a IAM spokesman said.
