The live-in partner of Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis was arrested Tuesday and accused of physically assaulting the mayor and dragging him across the road last week, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Daniel Curran, 34, was arrested on charges of battery on a person 65 years or older, a felony, and violating an injunction for protection against domestic violence.
Curran had been living with the 72-year-old mayor at his Fort Lauderdale home since March 2025, according to the affidavit. In September, Trantalis received a restraining order against Curran, saying that Curran had thrown objects at him and sent life-threatening messages to him and the police chief, according to the petition for the restraining order.
