Rashmika Mandanna continues her busy streak in 2025 with The Girlfriend, following her releases in Chhaava, Sikandar, and Thamma.

The romantic drama, written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, hit theatres on Friday.

According to early trade reports from Sacnilk, The Girlfriend earned ₹1.30 crore net on its opening day — marking Rashmika’s lowest start among her 2025 releases.

By comparison, her Diwali release Thamma opened to ₹24 crore and enjoyed a strong festive boost. The Girlfriend, however, released on a non-holiday weekend with limited promotions.

Industry insiders believe only strong word of mouth can help the film gain momentum in the coming days.
