LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A years-long affordable housing project, set to be completed by the end of this year, has become a source of controversy among some veterans in Laredo.
The Lafayette Tiny Homes project provides affordable housing to low-income families, but back in the project’s infancy, it was originally intended specifically for unhoused veterans.
“Right off the bat, disappointment comes to my mind. This committee is charged to find ways to improve the quality of life for our veterans,” said Roque Vela Sr., a Veterans Affairs committee board member.
