BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Federal Aviation Administration began implementing flight cuts today amid the longest government shutdown in American history, affecting travelers like Scott Bartgis, who found his connecting flight to Atlanta canceled.

“They sent us a warning text saying hey, you might have a problem, about 3:00 this morning, I had a you have a problem,” said Bartgis, who was traveling from Baton Rouge to New York.

The FAA has instituted a 4% reduction in U.S. flights across 40 of the country’s largest airports, including Atlanta. According to Flight Aware, a website that tracks flight status, over 1,000 domestic flights have been canceled today.
