SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho — A hunter was found dead after getting stuck in the snow in the woods outside Clarkia.

The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office says it received a call about two overdue hunters on Thursday morning. The caller told the sheriff's office that the hunters had called a friend on Wednesday evening to say they were stuck in the snow.

The two hunters' exact location was unknown, but the caller shared information about where they typically hunted. SCSO says a backcountry team was immediately sent to the area to get more information and start searching for them.

The sheriff's office says that after a day of unsuccessful phone pings and searching by the Sheriff’s Office and friends and family of the hunters, the pair was located by family.
