JENA, La. (KALB) - When Jay Roark took over as Jena Football’s head coach in 2012, the Giants hadn’t had much to celebrate in their recent history.
“I wish you could see a video of what games used to be like when Jay took over,” Jena Football play-by-play announcer Austin Whatley said.“ We didn’t have as many people in the stands and now you come here on a Friday Night and everyone in the community is here.”
Thirteen years later, the Giants have racked up eight District Championships, including one last Thursday night after their 46-6 victory over Caldwell Parish.
“Growing up, we’d win a district title every other year and then now we’re winning these district titles every year,” Jena senior offensive lineman Cale Parker said. “It’s a new standard now.”
