ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Millions of American families are still waiting for their SNAP benefits as food pantries are continuing to see an increase in need.
But more and more organizations are stepping in to help as the impacts of a government shutdown continue.
GiveDirectly is an organization that gives cash to those living in poverty. Their focus now includes SNAP recipients, and they’ve partnered with the Propel app to get that money to families.
“Families of three or more that receive the maximum SNAP allotment, which means they’re very likely to be very low-income or no income,” said Laura Keen, the GiveDirectly U.S. program director.
