KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Air traffic controllers on their day off handed out flyers Friday to travelers at Kansas City International Airport.
The controllers are asking travelers to contact their representatives in Congress to end the federal government shutdown. Advertisement
That shutdown means the controllers aren’t getting paid at a time when there’s already a nationwide shortage of controllers.
“The stress is real. Not getting a paycheck now, the second missed paycheck coming up this Tuesday,” said Aaron Merrick, regional vice president for the National Air Traffic Controllers Association.
There’s also the stress for travelers facing the unknown.
Brenda Lee and her daughter Erin Broughton are in Kansas City this weekend for a convention.
