Stature can often be a factor when it comes to making or breaking dreams of pursuing a professional ballet career.

So when Joondalup-raised dancer Indiana Scott saw her first WA Ballet performance while growing up, with the talented Polly Hilton taking centrestage in Don Quixote, she decided to take the next step.

“I just saw Polly and thought ‘I can do this as a tall dancer too’,” 23-year-old Scott shares, who joined WA Ballet as a young artist in 2023.

“Height can be a challenge in the way of there being limitations with roles, and even getting a job to begin with, but since being at WA Ballet, the company is so encouraging of diversity, and I’ve never felt held back by my height.
