NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Residents at the Shorter College Gardens Apartments in North Little Rock said they’re finally seeing signs of hope after years of living in what they described as unlivable conditions.

The complex is now under investigation by the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, and the North Little Rock Housing Authority has stepped in to offer support and resources for tenants seeking safer living environments.

For residents like Tamika Whitker, even the smallest improvements, like a working toilet or a draining bathtub, feel like a victory.

“The floor is not flooded with water. Oh Lord, I’m so thankful,” Whitker said.

After years of complaints and requests for help, tenant Britney Radford said she was happy to see the support.
