The Greeley Demands Better petition to challenge zoning for the Cascadia and Catalyst projects in west Greeley faces one last hurdle before a potential vote after the city clerk verified additional signatures Friday.

On Friday, Greeley City Clerk Heidi Leatherwood verified enough new signatures to validate the veto referendum petition, which seeks a vote to reverse the city council’s decision regarding zoning for the projects. The projects include the Catalyst entertainment district, which seeks to develop a hotel, water park and new hockey arena for the Colorado Eagles, and Cascadia, a private, mixed-use development.

In October, Greeley Demands Better secured 4,554 valid signatures for the petition. The group had initially submitted 7,763 signatures, but Leatherwood determined that 41%
