OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Donations made by neighbors like you as a part of Omaha’s city-wide food drive will feed hundreds of families.
In one week, more than 41,000 pounds of food and $600,000 in donations were received and Mayor John Ewing says that amount will continue to increase.
“Thank you, and we’re not done yet,” he said.
After successfully collecting almost 35,000 meals’ worth of food within a week, the city plans to continue taking donations with the “Leads and Feeds” food drive.
“You’ve seen the news about SNAP yoyo back and forth. We do not know when people will see their benefits restored. So, this one-week drive transitions into a fall-winter movement,” explained Ewing.
