MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) — A Miami-Dade Sheriff's deputy was shot and killed during a fight Friday afternoon, the sheriff's office said.
Deputy Devin Jaramillo was a younger member of the agency at just 27 years old.
Though few details have been released about the incident, reports from NBC 6 South Florida indicate Jaramillo was responding to a traffic crash on Southwest 128th Street when the fight happened.
Sheriff Roise Cordero-Stutz told reporters Jaramillo was "brutally attacked." The deputy was rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, officials said.
NBC 6 South Florida was reporting that the suspect may have been found dead after the incident, though officials have not confirmed those reports.
