Istopped what I was doing when I heard Kenny Chesney’s song playing on the radio. I chuckled to myself. He was singing “Everybody wants to go to heaven, have a mansion high above the clouds. Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to go now.” Isn’t that the truth? We have this idea that heaven is wonderful but it is for later. Much later! In other words, heaven can wait.

There was a movie that came out in 1978 featuring Warren Beatty and Buck Henry with that title, Heaven Can Wait! It was about a football player (Beatty) whose guardian angel (Henry) accidentally jumps the gun and brings him to heaven before his time. The man felt cheated and convinced his angel to send him back to complete his work. He wasn’t ready for heaven yet. He had more to do.
