Parents fume as school mandates ‘proper’ sweaters

The winter chill is setting in, and with it comes a controversy. A section of schools in the city is reportedly listing specific types of winter wear in specific colours to ‘match the uniform’, a potential violation of past state education department directions.

In one such text message to parents of wards enrolled in Sakar English School, Chandkheda, the management ‘instructed’ students to come in ‘proper winter wear uniform with blazer from 3rd November onwards’. The message further read: “In case of more requirements students can wear ‘dark blue half sweater’ inside the blazer, which when not required can be removed. Please note: Other colour sweaters will strictly not be allowed. Approach school uniform vendors for same.”
