The Mehsana Sessions Court has dismissed a plea by former Dudhsagar Dairy chairman Vipul Chaudhary seeking a stay on his conviction in the animal feed scam. He had filed a plea seeking a stay on his conviction so as to qualify for contesting the upcoming elections of the Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (Dudhsagar Dairy).
In July 2023, the Mehsana Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court had convicted Chaudhary and 14 others, sentencing them to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for causing financial losses to the dairy. The case relates to the 2013 when Dudhsagar Dairy had sent cattle feed to drought-hit areas in Maharashtra.
Following allegations of large-scale irregularities and mismanagement, a case was registered in 2014 at Mehsana “B” Division Police Station
