OAKALAND COUNTY, MI — A 24-year-old White Lake Township man appeared in court Friday after being charged with shooting two teens this summer at his home.
Dayton Thomas Knapton was arraigned Friday, Nov. 7, on one count of manslaughter and one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. He was also charged with two counts of weapons felony firearm, court records show.
According to a news release issued by White Lake Township Police on Tuesday, July 8, a security system alerted Knapton to the fact people were breaking into a detached garage on his property at 1 a.m. that morning.
Knapton is alleged to have fired shots at a group of seven teens who had allegedly entered the garage, located in the 9000 block of Mandon Drive.
