United States President Donald Trump has granted Hungarian Prime Minister a one-year exemption from sanctions that will allow Hungary to buy Russian oil. This comes after both the leaders had a meeting on Friday.

During the discussions, Trump and Orban exchanged warm words of praise, showcasing a united front on several key global issues.

Orban also underlined his different stand from most European Union leaders on the war in Ukraine and said it would take a “miracle" for Ukraine to defeat Moscow.

Meanwhile, President Trump agreed with Orban’s position on migration, an issue that has defined both leaders’ political agendas. He said European leaders should show Orban “more respect" for his approach to border security and national sovereignty.
