MARION — According to Williamson County leaders, the sheriff’s office will need a budget amendment after costs tied to housing more federal inmates pushed spending beyond this year’s plan. The same program also brought in significantly higher revenue.
County Board Chairman Tim Atkisson said the sheriff’s office exceeded its budget because of increased jail-related expenses tied to the federal detainee program, not because of unnecessary purchases.
