The Supreme Court on Friday (November 7) agreed to hear a plea filed by the father of the pilot of the London-bound Air India flight AI171, which crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12. Pusharraj Sabharwal, the father of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, has sought an independent probe.
The court has issued notice to the Centre and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to reply to Pushkarraj's plea. The court has posted the matter to November 10.
The top court observed that the preliminary report makes no insinuations against the pilot. The court observed that if the father is worried about the Wall Street Journal report, then he should move a US court against the newspaper.
