Marko Mitrovic, who coached United States teams to the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics and this year’s FIFA under-20 World Cup, was named coach of the New England Revolution on Friday.

The 47-year-old Serbian replaced Caleb Porter, who was dropped in September after the Revolution finished 9-16 with nine draw for 36 points, 11th in the Eastern Conference and out of the MLS playoffs for the second year in a row.

“We’re really excited to welcome Marko Mitrović as head coach,” Revolution sporting director Curt Onalfo said.

“During the interview process, Marko’s tactical acumen and modern coaching philosophies set him apart. It’s crystal clear he shares our ambitions to compete for trophies in 2026 and beyond.
