The Indian Railways has rolled out a new rule requiring Aadhaar-based verification for passengers booking train tickets online through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and mobile app during morning hours.
According to the Ministry of Railways , the change has been made to ensure that reservation benefits reach genuine passengers while curbing misuse of the system by touts or bulk bookers. As per the Indian Express report, officials stated that the move aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to improve transparency, fairness and accountability in booking tickets.
