The Komets saw their four-game winning streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss to the Florida Everblades on Friday at Hertz Arena in Estero. Zach Jordan and Matt Brown scored for Fort Wayne.
The Komets (6-2-0) entered the night tied for the lead in the ECHL’s Western Conference despite having two games in hand on fellow conference leader Tahoe.
Fort Wayne had beaten Florida 5-0 on Wednesday. The teams play a third game against one another at 7 p.m. today.
The Everblades (5-4-0) outshot the Komets 33-24. There were 16 minor penalties in the game.
Florida jumped to a 2-0 lead 3:35 into the second period. The Komets answered with Jordan’s tally from behind the net off a 3-on-2 at 8:29 of the second period. Jordan’s first goal of the season was assisted by Blake Murray.
