SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Former Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic made his return to the ice at the sold-out Springfield Thunderbirds game on Friday night at the MassMutual Center.
Lucic, who signed a professional tryout contract with the Thunderbirds, is working his way back after suffering a lower body injury during a tryout with the St. Louis Blues earlier this season.
"Obviously Milan is a big name in our area and has had such success with the Bruins," said Nathan Costa, President of the Springfield Thunderbirds. "He's trying to make a comeback, right? He'd like to get to the next level and we're hoping that we're going to be the step for that for him."
Lucic was a key member of the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup-winning team and has logged five seasons with 20 or more goals in his car
