COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WSMV) - Columbia Power and Water Systems (CPWS) is planning a $520 million project that would change where they take water out of the Duck River and allow them to increase their intake from 20 million to 32 million gallons of water per day.

“Several tributaries come into the Duck River upstream of where our proposed intake would be, and then all clean water discharge from sewer treatment plants comes in upstream of our location,” said President and CEO of CPWS Jonathan Hardin. “So this allows us to take advantage of significant inflows far greater than our needs in order to meet our needs for current customers and prepare for reasonable levels of growth over the next couple of decades.
