MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa —

Miller Middle School marked its 100th year this school year, and the Marshalltown Community School District has secured funding to modernize the campus for the next century.

The more than $100 million project will be paid for with a bond referendum passed last year and sales tax revenue, district officials said.

“We’re super excited about the fact the decision was made to reimagine Miller vs. recreate a new Miller,” said Theron Schutte, superintendent of the Marshalltown Community School District and a Miller alum.

He is walking the same halls he did decades ago. The only changes in the roughly 50 years since he was a student here have been the faces and the clothes.
