US President Donald Trump has officially endorsed Vivek Ramaswamy, an Indian-origin entrepreneur and former presidential candidate, for the 2026 Ohio Governor race. In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Ramaswamy, stating, "Vivek Ramaswamy will be a GREAT Governor of Ohio, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!" He described Ramaswamy as "something SPECIAL" and highlighted his qualities, calling him "Young, Strong, and Smart."

Ramaswamy, who is 40 years old, expressed gratitude for Trump’s support, saying, "Thank you, President Trump! Let’s make Ohio greater than ever." Born and raised in Cincinnati, he graduated in Biology from Harvard and earned his J.D. from Yale Law School. Ramaswamy founded Roivant Sciences, a biotech company, where he oversaw the development of several FDA-approved drugs.

Previously, Ramaswamy ran in the Republican presidential primary but suspended his campaign in January 2024 to endorse Trump. Following Trump's election, he was appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk but resigned shortly after to focus on his gubernatorial campaign.

In his campaign, Ramaswamy aims to transform Ohio into a leading state for business growth, education, and innovation. He envisions Ohio as a place where young families can thrive and where capitalism and meritocracy are embraced. Ramaswamy has stated his commitment to reducing regulations, promoting American-made products, and ensuring law and order. He aims to make Ohio a "State of Excellence," attracting people from across the country to settle there instead of states like Florida and Texas.
