Mike Warfield had one message to his Aliquippa team on Friday night after exacting revenge on New Castle (9-3).
The Quips (8-3) took down the Red Hurricanes 14-0, wiping away the slate from an earlier regular season loss. However, Warfield and the Quips have a high standard and despite the shutout, he reminded his team the performance didn’t exactly match the lofty Quips expectations.
“This isn’t good enough,” Warfield said. “Yeah, we won, but we’re the Aliquippa Quips. It’s not good enough. All this did was buy us seven more days, and we’ve got to jump on the horse tomorrow and prepare for next week.”
Next week— a week ahead of the other classifications — is the Class 4A championship at Pine-Richland. The Quips find themselves back in a WPIAL title game after narrowly missing out last
