The Catholic Central Cougars varsity football team hits the gridiron this afternoon to battle against their cross-town rival Chinook Coyotes for the School Sport Alberta 4A South Zone banner.

Catholic Central is coming off a 38-28 win over McCoy High School and Chinook is coming off a nail-biting 43-42 overtime win over Medicine Hat High School in the semifinals on Tuesday.

That was the Cougars first playoff win since 2019.

“That was really (good) for the boys to be able to win an elimination game and it allows us to be confident moving forward into (today),” said Joey Cavilla, Cougars head coach.
