New Delhi: Flight services at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport started returning to normal on Saturday morning after a major system crash paralysed air traffic across India on Friday. The disruption, caused by a failure in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), a critical part of Air Traffic Control (ATC), left hundreds of passengers stranded and triggered massive flight delays.
The AMSS system, which handles vital flight planning data for the ATC, suffered a technical snag late on Thursday. With automated processes down, air traffic controllers were forced to prepare flight plans manually, slowing down operations nationwide.
