LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A Louisville family is recovering after narrowly escaping the deadly UPS plane crash that occurred on Tuesday evening near Embry's Auto Parts on Grade Lane.
Mary Ballenger was in her car with her child and grandchildren when she saw the aircraft coming straight toward them.
"One minute sitting in my car playing with my kids, and the next moment look up and you have a plane that's coming straight towards you," Ballenger said.
The plane, which had departed from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, crashed and erupted in flames while Ballenger and her family were waiting for her husband.
With the car windows down, Ballenger and her family felt the heat from the fire.
"It could have been over for all of us but my reaction was grab them, go to the floor board,"
