For Jodi Feczko, the uncertainty of November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits is more than just a headline.

“It really made me very worried because I depend upon the benefits to buy food,” Feczko said. Advertisement

The North Irwin resident said, although it’s not much, she stretches the payment as far as she can to get the most out of it.

“Mostly what I do is I try to buy meat. Chicken, pork chops, ground meat. I use most of the money to try to get the biggest essentials, you know bread, milk, eggs,” Feczko told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.

Feczko is one of 2 million Pennsylvanians who were bracing to lose their SNAP benefits in November because of the federal government shutdown.

She said loved ones and even strangers swiftly jumped in to help.
