(The Center Square) – A former Middle Tennessee State University dean fired over her comments about the killing of Charlie Kirk is suing the university in federal court.
Laura Sosh-Lightsy was fired for posts she made shortly after Kirk's Sept. 10 death, beginning with one that said, "Looks like ol’ Charlie spoke his fate into existence. Hate begets hate. Zero sympathy."
U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., shared a repost of the comment from Matthew Hurtt, director of professional services at the Leadership Institute. Within four hours of her post, Sosh-Lightsy received a phone call from Dr. Sidney McPhee, president of Middle Tennessee State, terminating her, according to the complaint.
The university used a "red-alert" banner to announce Sosh-Lightsy's firing.
