UPS said it is temporarily grounding part of its fleet of aircraft after a cargo plane crashed into a ball of flames shortly after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky earlier this week. In a statement, UPS said it is grounding its fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-11 planes -- the type of aircraft that crashed on Tuesday -- "out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of safety." MD-11s make up about 9% of the UPS fleet, the company said. "We made this decision proactively at the recommendation of the aircraft manufacturer," UPS said in the statement.
